Families of people taken hostage by Hamas fear the terror group may keep the bodies of some of those killed in captivity as “grotesque bargaining chips” in their ongoing negotiations with Israel.

Some 20 living hostages are expected to be freed by Hamas on Monday morning, while the bodies of a further 28 will be released over the coming days, under the terms of phase one of the Gaza peace deal.

There are concerns that Hamas may claim they cannot locate all of the deceased in time for the deadline. A US-led security force is to help retrieve any bodies that are not handed over. New Feature
