Jose Garcia, 36, of Brooklyn, New York, died following the collision on Mount Prospect Avenue at about 9:45 p.m., the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office said.
Investigators found that a 2006 Nissan Pathfinder traveling north attempted to turn left into 696 Mount Prospect Avenue when it was struck by the southbound off-road motorcycle.
Garcia was taken to University Hospital in Newark, where he was pronounced dead at 11:03 p.m. on Monday, the prosecutor’s office said.
The motorcycle was unregistered and possibly stolen, according to the office.
The prosecutor’s office previously described the motorcycle as “reported stolen.”
