Manchester woke up to a crisp, foggy morning as more than 28,000 runners laced up their shoes for the 2025 Manchester Half Marathon - the biggest yet in the event's history.

In amongst the mist was a blur of neon lycra, charity vests and grinning faces as participants geared up to take on the 13.1-mile challenge.

The roads of Trafford and south Manchester with spectators and thousands more turned out to cheer runners through Chorlton , Sale , Hulme and Whalley Range .

The elite athletes were the first to set off at 8.55am, powering through the fog to the sound of applause.
