Steve Clarke admits Scotland produced one of their worst displays of his 72 games in charge to scrape past Belarus. ‌

But he’s backed his players to hit top form again in time for a November double-header which will decide their World Cup fate. ‌

Clarke’s side got lucky against the Group C minnows at Hampden by scrambling a 2-1 victory , thanks to goals from Che Adams and Scott McTominay. ‌

It kept Scotland on track for the USA, Canada and Mexico next summer, with two qualifiers left to play.

But while the Tartan Army JEERED at full-time, Clarke says he was baffled by the below-par display.

He accused the players of failing to turn up and dismissed any suggestions they were suffering from nerves. ‌
