WASHINGTON — DC Fire and EMS are working to extinguish a large fire.

On Sunday, crews were called to the 2600 block of 30th Street, NW, for a commercial delivery truck "fully engulfed with power lines and trees down."

Pepco arrived on the scene at 3 p.m. to shut down the live power lines. Once disconnected, units with the fire department will begin working to extinguish the remaining fire.

According to a Pepco spokesperson, a tree fell and hit the power lines on its way down, causing the lines to ignite. The driver of the truck was inside when the tree came tumbling down.

DC Fire tells our crew, the driver was not injured.

Drivers are being rerouted and asked to avoid the area. Residents are being told to keep all windows and doors closed due to "thick, noxious smoke."
