A powerful Nor’easter is battering the Atlantic Coast, bringing heavy rain, gusty winds, coastal flooding, and dangerous surf conditions.
The National Weather Service is forecasting major coastal flooding along the Mid-Atlantic, stretching from North Carolina to New Jersey.
New Jersey Governor Tahesha Way has declared a state of emergency in preparation for the storm. “Starting on Sunday, a dangerous coastal storm will begin to move past our state with extreme weather conditions for several counties, especially those on the Shore,” the governor stated.
As of now, over 6,000 people are without power in the Garden State.
Additionally, New York Governor Kathy Hochul has issued a state of emergency for eight southern counties to mobilize resources and coordinate storm response.
