A 35-year-old man was shot and killed during a domestic disturbance in Dyer today, according to the Lake County Sheriff's Office.

The incident took place at roughly 5 p.m. Sunday evening, in the 8600 block of Beall Street, according to the Sheriff's Department; an investigation is ongoing, and neither the names of the shooter nor the victim have been publicly released.

It is believed that the victim had gone to the residence to visit his child and the child's mother, which devolved into a dispute involving threats, police said.

At that point, the residence owner, a 52-year-old male, got involved, and there was an argument, police said, after which the 35-year-old man was shot.

The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
