He led Portland’s offensive explosion against the Lethbridge Hurricanes on Friday. The Winterhawks were shut out on Saturday, so no one else challenged him based on that one.

The 19-year-old came to the Winterhawks from the next level down in junior hockey, the Manitoba Junior Hockey League and the British Columbia Hockey League. He’s using this season with Portland to prep for a college career at St. Cloud State next season.

Friday at Lethbridge: 2 goals, 1 assist in a 9-4 win over the Hurricanes.

Saturday at Medicine Hat: scoreless in a 5-0 loss to the Tigers.
