BACLIFF, Texas – The Galveston County Sheriff’s Office says a man died after being attacked by his two pit bulls in Bacliff Sunday.

The sheriff’s office said it happened in the 400 block of Louisiana Avenue.

Witnesses reported seeing both of the dogs attacking the man while he was in his front yard.

When deputies arrived at the home, one of the dogs was still latched onto the victim’s arm. In an effort to stop the attack, a deputy shot the dog, at which point the dog released the victim and retreated to a corner of the yard.

The victim was transported to HCA Clear Lake with CPR in progress and was later confirmed dead from injuries sustained in the attack.
