NEW ALBANY, Ind. — Brendan Hagan walked through downtown New Albany, enjoying the food and drinks of Harvest Homecoming. Multiple surgeries and a lot of work later have allowed Hagan to walk still using both legs.

"It felt weird [being back] but...it's kind of like it didn't even happen but it did to where I kind of try to forget about it," Hagan said.

Last year, Hagan was shot in the leg at Harvest Homecoming, headed to the bathroom near the rides at the festival. He survived along with another woman who was shot, but 18-year-old Bryce Gerlach didn't.

New Albany Police arrested five people. The annual fall festival looks a little different this year. There are no rides in the parking lot where Hagan was shot. Festival organizers dropped them this year, saying they were too expensive. T
