If you own a cat, you could be unknowingly making their lives a misery by trying to keep your home fresh and tidy. A common cat trait is the reason why they might hate going into specific rooms or cuddling up with certain people. ‌

Amanda Campion , who is a clinical feline behaviourist , claims that many cat owners might be making a common mistake and may not realise how much of an impact it has on pets. In a TikTok video, she said: "Cats rely on scent and heavy perfumes on us or around the home, such as candles, can really stress them. It can mask their territory smells. They have a scent map around the home." ‌
