A train driver is in hospital in a critical condition with leg and pelvic injuries after the third cane locomotive derailment in the Mackay region in the past fortnight.
Emergency services were called to Oakenden, south of Mackay, shortly after 12pm on Monday when a cane locomotive and a B-double truck collided at a level crossing.
The driver was trapped until Queensland Fire and Rescue officers could cut him out of the badly-damaged cab.
Police Senior Sergeant Kyle Gould said Forensic Crash Unit and Workplace Health and Safety investigators attended the scene.
A Mackay Hospital and Health Service spokesperson said the man was in a critical condition.
