CLERMONT, Ky. — A celebration of culture and tradition, Kentuckians shared music, dance, stories and spirit at the Indigenous Peoples' Day Pow Wow.

Tucked away at Bernheim Forest were elders, parents and children dancing to the same beat.

"We did this to keep our culture going and keep our children aware of our culture so that they always knew who they were," said Robin Bowen, an elder of the Sisseton-Wahpeton Dakota Sioux Tribe.

Bowen spent more than two decades serving at Fort Knox and was back in the Bluegrass for Sunday's pow wow.

“Pow Wow is sharing of the culture with everybody," Bowen said. "They have their foods; they have their crafts, they have their dancing. And they sit and they visit and talk and [answer people's] questions.”
