A family in a Cambridgeshire village has been left without a home following an e-scooter fire on Friday, October 10. Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service was called at around 9.50pm with reports of a fire at a house in Steeple Morden.

The battery of the e-scooter had been charging in the kitchen before it set on fire while the family were still awake. The family were able to evacuate the property before crews arrived and before the fire spread through the house.

Crews from Gamlingay and Cambridge , alongside crews from Hertfordshire , arrived at the scene to find a well-developed fire. The firefighters tackled the fire using hose reels and jets.

They were also able to rescue three cats from the property. This is one of the 14 fires Cambridgeshire crews have attended to this year
