There is no stopping Gavin Cromwell's meteoric rise through the training ranks and he is basking in his latest triumph after Stumptown became the first Irish-trained winner of the Velka Pardubicka yesterday.
The legendary Czech Republic cross country chase is one of the most unique jumps races in the world and jockey Keith Donoghue earned his corn with a superb steer on the likeable eight-year-old.
He encountered all sorts of problems on the way around the stamina-sapping 4m2f course, including nearly parting ways with Donoghue at the famous Taxis fence, before staying on stoutly up the home straight to prevail.
