Mona McSharry narrowly misses 50m Breaststroke medal as Ellen Walshe impresses at World Aquatic Cup opener

Mona McSharry came agonisingly close to the podium in the 50m Breaststroke, while Ellen Walshe produced two strong sixth-place finishes on the final night of racing at the opening leg of the World Aquatics World Cup in Carmel, USA.
McSharry, who was also fourth in the 100m Breaststroke earlier in the weekend, missed out on bronze by just two hundredths of a second. The Sligo swimmer clocked 29.82 seconds, with Germany’s Anna Elendt edging her out for third in 29.80. Estonia’s Eneli Jefimova claimed gold in 29.33, while silver went to Belgium’s Florine Gaspard in 29.58.
