SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Schenectady Police Department Chief Eric Clifford is stepping down from the force in early 2026 and focusing on the next chapter of life, retirement. Clifford has been leading the Schenectady Police Department for the last nine years and will step down in late January 2026.

Clifford told NEWS10 that while his time with law enforcement may be coming to an end, he won't be leaving the community. Ensuring a smooth transition, Clifford is focusing on the 2026 city budget process.
