SOMERSET, Ky. (WKYT) - People in southern Kentucky are remembering a well-known retired judge who died last week following a crash near Somerset.

Walter F. Maguire, 82, died Wednesday as the result of a three-vehicle collision on Kentucky 80 in the Shopville community. Maguire served many years on the bench in Pulaski District and Family Court systems.

Visitation services for Maguire are set for 5 p.m. Monday at First Methodist Church in Somerset, with a memorial service scheduled for Tuesday.

Legacy of fairness and compassion

Maguire is remembered for his time on the bench as a fair and compassionate judge. Colleagues said he was known for being a wealth of knowledge and judging each case individually rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach.
