ATLANTA — Mario Guevara, the journalist who was arrested while covering an Atlanta ICE protest in June and deported earlier this month , says he believes he "paid the price" for his journalism.
The 48-year-old husband and father of three spoke to 11Alive's Chesley McNeil on The Take on Monday about his journey through the immigration enforcement system back to El Salvador, after building a life and family in the United States for more than 20 years.
He also says he never held a personal grudge against the officers who took him into custody while he was reporting on the June protest at Chamblee Tucker Road in DeKalb , setting off his deportation saga.
