CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WBOY) — The Mountain State is a beautiful place to enjoy the fall season, and what better place to enjoy it than in a cozy cabin?

According to a 2025 study, three places in particular in West Virginia are some of the most sought after locations for a fall retreat. The Texas Real Estate Source survey of just over 3,000 people who were asked where they would like to own a cabin in the United States. The results showed that many would like to have a cabin in the Monongalia National Forest, which ranked 13th out of 100. The New River Gorge ranked 66th, and Canaan Valley ranked 97th.

One thing the study pointed out that these locations have in common is their relative affordability, with homes in these areas ranging between $150,000-$200,000.
