CALHOUN COUNTY, W.Va. (WOWK) - A Calhoun County commissioner charged with 50 counts of sexual abuse of a child has submitted a resignation letter.

Kevin Harris, attorney for the Calhoun County Commission, says he received a resignation letter from Commissioner Jacob McCumbers on Thursday morning.

McCumbers, who is also a first-grade elementary school teacher, is accused of sexually abusing a child around 50 times over the course of several years. He is currently out of jail on a $100,000 bond and is under home confinement. His next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 20.
