Peoria Police are investigating a homicide that left a man dead in the street.

Officers responded to a report of gunshots near 95th and Peoria avenues 7:49 p.m., Oct. 11, according to a news release.

Upon arrival, officers located a man lying in the middle of the street with an apparent gunshot wound. Lifesaving measures were performed on the victim but were unsuccessful, and he was pronounced dead on scene, the release said.

The victim has been identified as James Durham, a 33-year-old man from Surprise.

Witnesses reported seeing several people flee the area in a red sedan. Responding officers located a vehicle matching the description and conducted a traffic stop. The vehicle's occupants were detained for further investigation. One of them was identified as the suspect, Henry Juarez-
