SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) -- An overnight closure will be in effect, with a detour that could impact your travels.

The New York State Department of Transportation is alerting drivers that Interstate 81 northbound will be closed to traffic between Exit 16A (Interstate 481 North) and the East Glen Avenue on-ramp to Interstate 81 northbound in the City of Syracuse, from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. on weeknights, beginning Monday, October 13, through Saturday, October 18.

The closure will take place to facilitate bridge steel installation as part of the I-81 Viaduct Project.

Drivers are advised to follow the signed detour at Exit 16A that directs traffic to I-481 north, to Exit 1 (Brighton Avenue/Rock Cut Road), to west on Rock Cut Road, to north on East Brighton Avenue, to west on East Glen Avenue, to
