ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — The Rochester Museum and Science Center celebrated Indigenous Peoples' Day on Monday with an event to educate and engage the community.
The celebration was held from October 11 to October 13 and provided information about different indigenous groups and their contributions through displays and activities.
During the event, attendees learned about sports featured in the Native Youth Games held in Alaska by the Inlet Tribal Council, Navajo code talkers who created "codes" to assist United States troops during World War I and World War II, and engineering practices for building bridges amongst the Aymara, Inka, and Quechua.
Visitors to the museum were also able to explore the new permanent exhibit, "Hodinöšyö:nih Continuity | Innovation | Resilience," featuring the
