Santa Fe police identified a man whose body was found Saturday morning outside a south-side hotel as 49-year-old Brian Trussell, a resident of the city.

Police have released few details about Trussell's death but confirmed Monday the incident is being investigated as a homicide.

"They did not die of natural causes, I can tell you that much," Capt. Amanda Montaño said in a telephone interview, referring to the deceased Santa Fe man.

"We're just not releasing how they were killed," she said, adding police want to keep some of the circumstances secret "because of potential suspects."

Police were dispatched to the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel around 9 a.m. Saturday after workers reported seeing a man on the ground outside.
