The National Alliance on Mental Illness Santa Fe will be hosting a mayoral candidate forum Tuesday focused on behavioral health, one of the last in a marathon session of forums as Election Day nears.

The forum will give the eight candidates running to be Santa Fe's next mayor the opportunity to "share their perspectives and proposed solutions for addressing behavioral health needs in our community," according to NAMI Santa Fe's website.

"Santa Fe residents continue to face challenges accessing timely, appropriate behavioral health services," the organization wrote. "Leadership at the city level plays a critical role in shaping mental health policy, funding priorities, and public partnerships."

The forum comes a month after a report finding that New Mexico's suicide rate increased by 9%
