TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — It was a very busy weekend here in Vigo County, as it was Indiana State's homecoming game.

With the increase in people around Terre Haute, we spoke to the Terre Haute Police Department to see how public safety was this weekend. According to Lieutenant Justin Sears, both the Terre Haute and ISU police departments began preparations for homecoming months in advance.

This means various meetings about where to station police for maximum safety and following their new initiative, Safe Neighborhoods & Property Crime Initiative. The initiative is a larger police presence downtown and Sears said this kept students, families, and visitors safe.
