ROANE COUNTY, Tenn. (WATE) — The Roane County Planning Commission has been discussing an effort along Lawnville Road near Kingston, a plan to build more than 150 duplexes. 6 News went out to that community as they try to balance needs and worries as it plans for the future.
The proposal if passed would add 171 duplexes and around 342 units on a property on Lawnville Road. This means 58 acres on the road would be rezoned from an A-2, a developing agricultural district, to an R-4, a planned unit development.
"My stomach dropped when I found out that they were trying to zone this area. Our main concerns are that it just doesn't fit in our community,” said community member Kacy Schnake.
