HERRIN, Ill. (WSIL) -- Area officers responded to a report of shots fired on Bayer Circle Drive in Herrin at approximately 6:05 p.m. on October 13.
The Herrin Police Department said one person was found suffering from a gunshot wound. The scene has been secured, and officials stated there is no immediate threat to the public.
The Williamson County Sheriff Jeff Diederich reported that a suspect is in custody.
"The investigation remains active," said Chief David Dorris as of 7:06 p.m. on Monday. He expressed gratitude to the Williamson County Sheriff's Office, Energy Police Department, Carterville Police Department, and Crainville Police Department for their assistance.
