MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- One man is dead and another is injured after a shooting in South Memphis on Monday afternoon, according to Memphis police.

Police said at 3 p.m., officers responded to a shooting in the 2100 block of S. Third Street involving two male individuals. • Scene on 2100 South of Third Street • Scene on 2100 South of Third Street • Scene on 2100 South of Third Street

When police arrived, one man was located and transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition, where he later died from his injuries.

The other man involved in the incident arrived separately at the hospital by a private vehicle with an accidental, self-inflicted gunshot wound.

MPD said preliminary investigation reports that the men knew each other.
