JACKSON COUNTY, MI – The family of a 20-year-old Clinton man who died from injuries sustained in a Napoleon Township drunk-driving crash last spring is suing the truck driver charged in the incident and his employer.

Rescue crews were originally called to the crash at around 3:20 p.m. April 24 on Austin Road after a box truck reportedly struck a motorcyclist head-on before attempting to flee. At the time, police said witnesses saw the crash and followed the truck driver , aiding in the initial arrest.

The 20-year-old, Alexander Ferrell, suffered multiple “catastrophic” injuries, including multiple skull, facial and spinal fractures that precipitated numerous surgeries, according to the complaint filed earlier this month in U.S. District Court, and later succumbed to his injuries June
