The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has confirmed people over State Pension age who need to claim this year’s Winter Fuel Payment can do so by phone after lines opened on Monday (October 13). Pensioners can also make a postal claim, full details on how to do this can be found on GOV.UK. ‌

Winter Fuel Payments will be issued automatically to around nine million people in England and Wales over November and December. At least 880,000 Scots pensioners will receive up to £305 through a similar, but separate payment from next month - find out more about Pension Age Winter Heating Payment here. ‌
