AKRON, Ohio — A woman was wounded in the stomach early Sunday morning when shots were fired during a large fight in the parking lot of an Akron bar, police say.

Police say officers were called to the Empire Lounge on the 1800 block of Merriman Road just before 2:30 a.m. Officers found the 24-year-old victim and gave her medical aid until she was taken by ambulance to a hospital. Her wounds are not considered life-threatening, according to police.

Witnesses say a large group of people started fighting in the parking lot. The victim was walking toward her car when shots were fired and she was unintentionally wounded, police say.

Multiple shell casings were recovered at the scene. At least two vehicles were hit by gunfire, according to police.
