(WKBN) -- Numerous Valley cemeteries were named recipients of a state grant that will help them preserve history, as well as address some maintenance issues.

The Ohio Department of Commerce’s Division of Real Estate and Professional Licensing has awarded $104,000 in grants to 45 Ohio cemeteries located in 31 counties through the Fiscal Year 2025 Cemetery Grant Fund.

The following are local grant recipients and the amount awarded to each: • Howland Township Cemetery (Trumbull County) $2,400 • Lowellville Cemetery (Mahoning County) $2,500 • Oakdale Cemetery (Columbiana County) $2,500 • St. Patrick Cemetery (Trumbull County) $2,500 • Vienna Township Cemetery (Trumbull County) $2,500

The annual grant is funded by $1 of every $2.50 from burial permit fees received by the Division.
