The Red Bank City Commission is having a special called meeting on Tuesday to discuss what the mayor is calling "an egregious mistake” by the Hamilton County Property Assessor’s Office.

Red Bank Mayor Stefanie Dalton says when the property assessor’s office calculated the city’s certified tax rate (CTR), it mistakenly used the 2021 tax rate of $1.39 instead of the current rate of $1.67.

Dalton says this error is going to deprive the city of revenue that was included in the FY2025 budget.

"Because they used the WRONG tax rate to calculate our new CTR, both the Hamilton County Property Assessor’s office and the State Board of Equalization have shorted Red Bank taxpayers more than $760,000 in anticipated revenues,” Dalton said on Facebook . "That’s three-quarters of a million dollars
