The City of Chattanooga and Hamilton County governments have connected for the America 250 Commemoration with the creation of a local America 250 Committee.

The America 250 Committee is a joint venture aimed at celebrating the 250 Anniversary of America signing the Declaration of Independence.

Local 3 News spoke to Linda Moss Mines who is the Hamilton County Historian and Chair of America 250 Committee. Moss Mines says official celebrations will start in January, however planning has already kicked off.

“We have representatives from organizations across the county, county and city government, county and city parks, civic groups and all sorts of groups coming together to decide how we can best celebrate that 250th birthday,” said Moss Mines.
