EASTERN PANHANDLE — The time is fast approaching for youngsters to dress in their scariest, fanciest or funniest and head out to gather some treats as part of their Halloween celebration.

The holiday, traditionally having children travel from house to house in their neighborhoods, took a turn in the 1990s, when an alternative to lots of walking was replaced in some areas with a one-stop activity dubbed "trunk or treat."
