Police in Montana arrested a man wanted in Portland in the fatal stabbing of a 22-year-old woman two years ago.

Connor J. O’Brien, 21, is accused of second-degree murder and unlawful use of a weapon in the stabbing that killed Tiara Atencio in the 6800 block of Southeast Powell Boulevard on Oct. 19, 2023, the Portland Police Bureau said in a statement.

O’Brien allegedly fled the scene after the stabbing. First-responders rushed Atencio to the hospital, where she later died, police said.

Two years later, the Montana Regional Violent Crimes Task Force and the Missoula Police Department tracked O’Brien down and arrested him in Missoula, where he’s currently lodged in jail while he awaits extradition to Portland.
