SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. — A suspect is in custody after a major standoff with Sandy Springs Police and SWAT, which led to an officer being shot.

In the update with reporters, Sandy Springs Officer Jarrell Greene said responding officers went to a home on Carroll Manor Drive after 11 a.m. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said the man fired shots in the home after friends arrived to do a welfare check.

When officers arrived, they were "met with gunfire," Greene said. Officers returned fire, and one officer who was grazed went to a hospital for treatment. He has since been released.
