DECATUR, Ga. — City Schools of Decatur initiated a comprehensive review of K-2 school utilization that could result in the closure of a lower elementary school, district officials said.

The review will "ensure that space, staffing and resources align with student needs while maintaining operational efficiency and fiscal responsibility," according to a district statement.

A consulting firm, Education Planners, presented a timeline and detailed overview of the school closure and redistricting process at Tuesday's work session. The district said the meeting served as a preliminary discussion to review various options.

There are five K-2 schools in the district: Clairemont, Glennwood, Oakhurst, Winnona Park and Westchester Elementary. The board has not yet decided which school, if any, will
