Bengaluru: The State Election Commission on Tuesday issued an order appointing District and Additional District Election Officers to conduct elections for the five city corporations coming under the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA).

According to the notification, GBA Commissioner Maheshwar Rao has been appointed as the District Election Officer for all wards under the Bengaluru Central, North, South, East, and West City Corporations. The respective commissioners of each corporation have been designated as Additional District Election Officers to oversee election-related responsibilities.

Based on the 2011 Census, the former BBMP, which earlier comprised 198 wards, has been reorganized into 368 wards across five city corporations under the new GBA structure.
