Fred Warner continued to fulfill his duty as the 49ers' leader, even after his devastating injury in San Francisco's 30-19 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday at Raymond James Stadium.
Warner left the game in the first quarter after suffering a season-ending dislocated and fractured right ankle, but stuck around in the locker room for the remainder of the contest and gave an emotional speech to his team after the game.
"Yeah, he was in the locker room," coach Kyle Shanahan said of Warner after the game. "We all just talked to him now, he talked to the team for a little bit, broke us down."
Warner's speech, according to his teammates, was powerful and helped motivate the team moving forward without their leader.
