The Indiana Department of Natural Resources is again enacting an anti-poaching effort that resulted in 1,025 tips last year and paid out thousands in rewards.
The program, Turn in a Poacher, is operated by a nonprofit organization that partners with DNR to protect fish and wildlife resources by increasing public support and involvement in bringing violators to justice, according to the DNR.
"A poacher is a thief who illegally steals wildlife that belongs to all Hoosiers," the DNR said.
Potential violations can be reported to 1-800-TIP-IDNR (800-847-4367) or at tip.IN.gov .
"Doing so will help conserve wildlife for future generations," the DNR said.
Anyone making a tip leading to an arrest is eligible to receive a reward of up to $500. Tips can also be made anonymously.
