The following has been provided by LDWF:

Fort Polk-Vernon and Fort Polk North Wildlife Management Areas (WMAs) are closed to all public activities until further notice due to the federal government shutdown, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) announced.

All or a portion of the deer archery area inside the installation gates on Fort Polk-Vernon may remain open (see map at kiosk or CLICK HERE .)

Fort Polk-Vernon WMA is located in central Vernon Parish near Leesville. Fort Polk North WMA is located in northern Vernon Parish, southeastern Sabine Parish and southwestern Natchitoches Parish near Simpson.
