A convenience store clerk was threatened with a weapons during a robbery on Friday morning in Chatham, said Chatham-Kent police.

A male entered the store on Grand Avenue West in Chatham around 11:15 a.m. and threatened a 32-year-old man with a weapon, leaving without paying for some items, police said.

A suspect was located nearby in possession of the stolen merchandise, police said.

The suspect was under release conditions which prohibited him from attending the store and possessing any weapons, police said.
