Brantford city councillors have agreed to extend the deadline for reaching a 2026 operating paramedics services budget to Oct. 31.
Councillors, at a special city council meeting Tuesday, voted unanimously in favour of the extension in response to a request from the County of Brant.

Although the county operates the Brant Brantford Paramedic Service, it is funded by both municipalities and overseen by a joint city-county committee. The committee develops and recommends for approval the service’s operating and capital budgets.
By agreement the committee must recommend for approval a draft budget by Oct. 1. Once that happens, the budget must then be approved by both municipal councils.
