MARYVILLE, Tenn. — The Tennessee Department of Transportation is conducting a traffic study at the intersection of Highway 411 and Brick Mill Road in Blount County to determine whether a traffic signal will be installed in the area.

State Senator Tom Hatcher (R-Maryville) told 10News he contacted TDOT after citizens voiced concerns about safety in the area.

There are no traffic lights on the stretch of Highway 411 between Route 129 and where Blount County meets Loudon County, and four people have died in wrecks along that stretch of road in the past few months.

Hatcher said he thinks a stoplight could force people to slow down and be more aware of their surroundings, which could prevent future wrecks.
