BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - Chickens in Bismarck city limits have been a point of conversation for months. Commissioners will decide on Tuesday night where chickens will be allowed.

The city council will decide whether to permit residents to keep chickens within city limits and eliminate setback requirements for coops on residential properties in the extraterritorial area (ETA).

A public survey showed that 44% of responders are against the proposal and 56% are in favor.

Stakeholders from the public, county and community organizations propose allowing six hens, confined in a sturdy coop or run, with a six-foot fence or wall.

Your News Leader will have more on the results of tonight’s meeting later Tuesday night.
