Multiple people are missing after a fire ripped through a Queensland home on Wednesday morning.

Emergency services were called to property on Whiting Street at Toolooa, a suburb of the Gladstone region, after reports of a fire just before 6am AEST.

The two-storey house was fully engulfed in flames when police and fire crews arrived at the scene.

There are fears for multiple people who police confirmed remain unaccounted for following the fire.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokesman told SkyNews.com.au the property was “well involved” in flames when crews arrived.

Firefighters were initially unable to conduct a search of the home for the occupants due to the severity of the blaze and concerns of a structural collapse, he said.
