PORTLAND, Ore. — A Hillsboro resident made their initial appearance in federal court Tuesday after assaulting a federal officer near an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) office in South Portland, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Oregon.
The 19-year-old was charged by criminal complaint with the felony offense of assaulting a federal officer.
According to court documents, on the evening of Oct. 12, federal officers detained the Hillsboro resident after they physically resisted attempts to clear a path for vehicles exiting the ICE facility. During the detention, they kicked a federal officer multiple times before being arrested.
"We will not tolerate violence against federal law enforcement officers," U.S. Attorney Scott E. Bradford said in a statemen
